Idaho Steelhead Fishing Trips Proud Steelhead Catch

Our Salmon River fishing guides have many years experience to ensure the highest possible best steelhead fishing success rate using a wide variety of both traditional and modern methods. Spring offers an exciting steelhead run. These large steelhead arrive here on the upper Salmon River, Salmon and Challis areas finishing their spawn run.  Big fish numbers and good water clarity with a small amount of low snow run off can make this spring steelhead fishing trips fun.  Fly fishing for steelhead is great as well, as these fish stack up on the gravel bars and channels. The hatchery steelhead returns have been very successful with a strong native run as well. We set out fishing using dory-type drift boats equipped with heaters. Our Salmon River steelhead fishing guides use several fishing techniques, but primarily we like back trolling plugs or bait and steelhead fly fishing, depending upon the preference and skill level of our fishing clients. A fisherman sized lunch is prepared homemade, hot and very tasty. Steelhead fishing on the Salmon river is truly an unforgettable experience! Check out the fishing photo gallery to see why we offer the best fly fishing in Idaho!

Great day on the River on a Salmon Fishing Trip

The Salmon numbers are lining up to be a record as well.  Last season proved salmon fishing in Idaho to be a great success.  The Salmon fly fishing started June 20 and went through the second week of July.  Big numbers of Salmon and good water conditions made for a very fun and successful Salmon Fishing season.  In fact we are going to spool up with heavier line as we broke off some very big Salmon!  This coming salmon fishing season is predicted to be better yet!  The Idaho Fish and Game Department are formatting the season dates and information should be released by sometime in May.  An Idaho Salmon fishing Vacation with Rawhide Outfitters a not to be missed fishing adventure.

Vernon Trout fishing with Rawhide Outfitters fishing guides – It’s a great day on the Salmon River

Fly Fishing/Spin Cast for Trout – In July & August we specialize in Idaho trout fishing trips where we use drift boat fishing and wade fly fishing, dry or wet fly-fishing and/or spin casting depending on personal preference. Experienced or novice, our trout fishing guide can explain any technique or strategy needed while you are trout fishing to catch a fish. On your Salmon River trout fishing trip, we drift through a very beautiful section of the Salmon River, stopping to wade occasional good runs. We encourage catch & release normally averaging 20 to 40 fish days, ranging from 12 to 18 inch rainbow and cutthroat trout. Many of our clients are surprised and comment on the low amount of fishermen we see for the quality of trout fishing and beauty of the Salmon River. 1day trout fishing trips include a fisherman size lunch that you can pick from a variety of choices.
